This qualification has been developed in association with the electrical installation industry, giving those who attend the knowledge to Test, Inspect & Verify new installations for Part P Approval. This 5 day course has been developed to provide candidates with an introduction of how to inspect and test (conduct the initial verification) of electrical installations. It also provides an understanding of the Building Regulations in relation to Part P. The City & Guilds 2392-10 element of this course is ideal for those who wish to progressing onto the 2391-10 Level 3 Certificate in Inspection, Testing & Certification of Electrical Installations. To achieve the City & Guilds 2392-10 candidates must successfully complete a 1 hour 40 minute multiple choice computer based exam and a practical assessment and for the 2393-10 a 1hour multiple choice computer exam. There is a large degree of confusion about Part P even though it came in to force in 2005. We have found that many people do not understand what Part P is about and think that if they get "PART P" trained or training they are automatically able to self certificate installations in dwellings as a "competent person", this is not the case. Those individuals that want to become a Part P installer will need to apply to one of the Part P scheme providers. These include ELECSA, NAPIT etc. Individuals that can demonstrate that they have the required skills and knowledge to install to BS:7671 (17th Edition Wiring Regulations), which is a requirement of acceptance on to a Part P scheme and can demonstrate that they are able to test and inspect (City & Guilds 2392-10) such installations along with a knowledge of the Building Regulations (City & Guilds 2393-10) should be able to show a Part P scheme assessor from the Part P scheme provider they have signed up with that they are a "competent person" and in doing so should be accepted on to the Part P scheme. It is being accepted on to a Part P scheme which allows individuals to test & inspect & certify new installations single phase only. Quote from Peter (Senior Trainer) "Part P is a "competent persons" scheme and relies on fact that the individual has the following": "Be able to demonstrate a full grasp of the latest Wiring Regulations. The recognized qualification for this is an accredited 17th Edition qualification (BS: 7671). Installers need an understanding of the Building Regulations as installations can have a direct affect on the structure and fabric of a building in relation to the Regulations. Inspection & testing You must be able to demonstrate that you are fully capable of undertaking the relevant inspection and testing required for the type of installations you typically undertake. Note that you must be able to use your equipment and complete the relevant test sheets - simply owning the required equipment is not sufficient. If you are able to demonstrate your competency and fulfill all of the above requirements, you should pass your assessment". This course is also suitable for practicing electricians who have not carried out inspection and testing since qualifying or who require some updated training before going onto achieve the City & Guilds 2391-10 Testing, Inspection & Verification qualification. Testing and Inspection is often a difficult subject for even the most experienced of electricians. This 2392-10 Fundermental Inspection, Testing & Initial Verification qualification not only helps you to fully understand testing, it also provides you with a qualification and certificate to show you are competent to undertake the work. It's a very essential skill and qualification to have for anyone undertaking electrical installations. During the course candidates learn how to carry out inspection and testing using various training rigs simulating real electrical installations, and are then given the opportunity to perform the inspection, testing and verification on an individual basis. There are no formal entry requirements for candidates undertaking this Electrical qualification. However, we expect that candidates have an understanding of electrical principles and have the 17th Edition Wiring Regulations qualification (BS:7671). It would also be expected that candidates have experience of electrical installation work either within the electrical contracting industry or an allied trade. The acheive this qualification candidates will complete a 1hr 30min multiple choice online test covering the underpinning knowledge relating to the fundamental inspection, testing and initial verification of electrical installations, as required by BS 7671:2008 and a 2hr practical assessment covering the range of inspections, tests, verification and recording of information and results for a new electrical installation, as required by BS 7671:2008 Progression to City & Guilds 2391-10: - The City & Guilds 2391-10 is amongst the most difficult of any electrical exams that you may undertake, but with the introduction of this qualification it is expected that candidates who have achieved the 2392-10 will have on average, a greater chance of success in achieving the 2391. |
